A lifetime of paddling and surf experience. Over 8 years of operation in Tofino.

Emre Bosut owner and creator of SWELL Education has been on the pursuit of surf for most of his life. SWELL is the latest way for Emre to share his passion for being in the ocean.

Even though the name SWELL Education may seem new around Tofino, the origins of the company date back to 2012 when Emre and Tsimka Martin created T’ashii Paddle School; offering Paddling and outdoor education for tourism and locals. In 2019 the paddleboarding, surfing and first aid products of T’ashii Paddle School were moved over to Emre’s new company Swell Education Ltd.  allowing T’ashii Paddle to continue as a First Nations (Tla-o-qui-aht) owned and operated canoe tours company.

New name, same passion for creative positive learning and being on the water.

2020 Will mark the first year that SWELL will be operating under the new SWELL logo and brand. Emre looks forward to continue to offer the best quality instruction and service that’s previously become synonymous with with T’ashii name. We’re excited about great things to come and as always continue to grow and learn with the new energy that life and the ocean provides.

Emre Bosut

tofino paddle

Owner, Paddle Canada Instructor Trainer and Red Cross first aid instructor. Paddling and surfing has accompanied Emre on his journey through life. It Started off in a whitewater kayak searching for waves along the shores of Lake Ontario where he grew up in Burlington. It’s been a long and exciting journey, working across the country and internationally as a guide and instructor, to his current home in Tofino BC, where the waves are much bigger. One thing that hasn’t changed is Emre’s love of being on the water, which today is usually on a paddleboard or surfboard.

Emre is passionate about instruction and learning along with people. He is excited to be developing Canada’s most comprehensive SUP  and Surf instruction resources drawing upon his experience as a guide trainer on Vancouver Island’s instructor program (the COLT Program, Canadian Outdoor Leadership Training), Whitewater kayak instructor with Madawaska Kanu Center, Sea Kayak guide in Clayoquot Sound with Paddle West Kayaking, first aid instructor with North Island Collage and most recently a Paddle Canada Paddleboard Instructor Trainer.

Emre is always stoked to share his love for catching waves and learning in the outdoors. If he’s not figuring new ways to share the world of paddling and surfing with others, you know where he can be found: In the surf.

Thomas has been immersed in Nuu-chah-nulth culture his whole life.  Canoe guide and SUP instructor, he is always happy to share some of his wisdom about his home and his people.  Thomas is a great story-teller, with a special sense of humour.  Ask him about the story of “Richard”.   Thomas has a beautiful voice, and has been in the singing circle since he was old enough to talk.   If you ask nicely, he might just share a traditional song with you.   Thomas likes pizza, noodles and frybread.
